LOW-COST EASY JET FLIGHTS
Easy Jet, Europe’s second largest airline, has begun regularly scheduled flights from
London to Dalaman International Airport. Currently they have three flights into Dalaman each week through the first of May when there will be scheduled flights from London to Dalaman five days per week.
The Easy Jet web site received 21,000 hits from travelers after announcing the Dalaman flights and booked all their flights with 100% occupancy for the three weeks during April. The initial Easy Jet flight numbered EZY 8839 arrived at Dalaman International Airport with 191 British tourists, where they were welcomed by airline employees who gave them red carnations.
Lufti Yigenoglu, Mayor of Mugla, and with Professor Yuksel Ozden, the Deputy of the AK Party of Mugla, and with Ilhan Acikgoz, the Chairman of the Association of Southern Aegean Tourist Hotels ( GETOP ) along with Hamdi Guvence, the General Manager of ATM Dalaman presented a one week holiday in Serigerme as a gift to the first family of tourists to arrive and the same to the chief pilot on the flight.
DOG REGISTRATION PROJECT STATUS
The Dalyan Belediye deserves praise for its recent initiative requiring the registration of local dogs by their owners.
Aysel Kharaman, the Zabita Chief, deserves special thanks for her untiring efforts to achieve this goal which involved many meetings during the past several months between animal welfare volunteers, the Belediye, and other government officials.
The 2004 Animal Protection Law calls for the registration of all dogs whether they have owners or whether they are strays. Another requirement calls for all dogs to be neutered and inoculated against rabies. Experience has shown that these last two requirements are the key to the future control and well-being of pets, and therefore vital to their interaction in urban societies.
More than one hundred dogs were registered by their owners in the Gulpinar District of Dalyan on April 9th and 10th.
Dates for future registration are as follows:
It is sufficient to produce the dog’s certificate (passport) signed by a veterinarian.
Salih Gultekin, Dalyan’s veterinarian, will be in attendance at all registrations to offer advice and help.
