LOCAL BUILDER INTRODUCES 10 YEAR GUARANTEES Local builder Mehmet Naldöken has started to give a 10 year guarantee for all the buildings he constructs along the lines of the British NHBC guarantee. The guarantee covers everything including plumping, electrical, installation, the roof and walls, but excludes damage caused by natural disasters. In his projects all the materials used are TSE(Turkish Standards Institute) approved and he has applied also for the European Standard trademark for his buildings. He says that he is the only builder who has applied for the ISO9000 in Dalyan. Mehmet has been involved in the construction business since he was a child in Aydin where his grandfather was a builder and he helped him during summer breaks. After he opened his textile shop in Dalyan in 1992, he started constructing buildings for foreigners. He believes that all builders in Dalyan should introduce his system. Tour Buses polluting Children's Park
Coaches are spoiling the new children's play area. The new play area, a great asset to Dalyan.is located behind Arikan hotel and less than five minutes' stroll from the town centre, it is beautifully built with a wide range of options and should be a great spot for children to spend time having fun. It is also next to the new coach park and this is proving to be a problem see.

The coaches come and stay for several hours after dropping off their passengers. All of them keep their engines running so the drivers can relax in air conditioned comfort instead of opening the doors and letting the breeze through. This makes the playground noisy, smelly and full of polluting fumes. The day my family visited it we had to leave after ten minutes because we all had sore eyes and throats and were tired from the constant engine droning.
The Dalyan Belediye takes great pride in this beautiful town and their conservation record for the area and they should be doing everything they can to put a stop to this pollution which is ruining what should be a favourite spot for children and families to visit. Let's hope that something is done soon to put this right.
Charitable Event
Every year the Kermes or bring and buy sale is held by the Dalyan organisation for the environment. Held in front of the caretta's statue in the square, proceeds go to care for street cats and dogs; to help handicapped children and for the protection of dalyan's environment.
Many local people put in a lot of effort to make each kermes more succesful than its predecessors. . This year lasted from 9 am to12 pm and raised money from the sale of clothes, books, decorative and electronic materials etc.. And from a tombola with many prizes donated by local businesses and individuals
