The ancient rock tombs are the resting places of the kings of Kaunos. There are two types of tombs to be found in Dalyan. Many tombs were built with false walls placing valuables behind them. At Kaunos there is an Acropolis surrounded by the city walls, a theatre, four temples, an agora, shops, the harbour, the roman bath and cistern, many of the ruins are still underground and yet to be excavated.

Dalyan has many Therapeutic hot springs. The mud baths are also said to remedy Rheumatism as well as cleanse and beautify the skin.

This small village of Dalyan is in the province of Mugla on the southwestern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The natural beauty is completely unspoiled. This village has one of the cleanest and the most beautiful beaches in Turkey. Iztuzu Beach is home to the Caretta Caretta Sea Turtle. This species of turtle is listed as threatened on the federal fish and wildlife Endangered Species List. They come each year to Iztuzu Beach to nest from May and September.

What's Happening with the PTT Building?

When you arrive in Dalyan, one of the buildings you'll see is the Post Office [ PTT ], a building which is an important landmark for years in Dalyan. It has been planned in 2 years to move the Post Office which was opened in 1987 and for 21 years has served the village. The unexpected event is that the Post Office will be moved in the place of the Dalyan Municipality and this has raised much concern with the people of Dalyan. Why the municipality gives his place which has been there for years, and where they get the finance are unanswered. If this change becomes in practice then what will happen to the Dalyan municipality and why isn’t there any change inside of the Post Office with this unknown capital?

A man who made a comment about it, said” in 1987 when the post Office was built, everybody in Dalyan objected because that times there weren’t many buildings in Dalyan. Everywhere was green. In the past they were right about this objection but now it is different. Actually Dalyan has many unlicensed buildings and unsuitable constructions. Why are they then demolished? At first competent must take care of the building at the back of the cooperative or repair it. The historical building of the Dalyan Municipality is important for Dalyan public.” And Mehmet Kocaöz who was retired, said “there are two mistakes. The first one is that the mistake can not be corrected for years. If the building of the post Office is demolished; the municipality can show another place for it. Maras Street is now the most suitable place for the municipality. Dalyan has inside the fixed public improvements’ plan. There aren’t many houses more than 2 floors in Dalyan. Dalyan can not be like Marmaris. It has been known as a capital of Dalyan by everybody.

As a fact that the competent must think about this change because the both buildings have the most suitable places in their own for Dalyan public and for years it has been known like this. In spite of changing, it must be made a reform and differences inside of it. The competent should be more sensible about this important subject.
